Designer who builds. Builder who designs. The slash in between is the whole job.
I'm Nathan Van Twisk, a digital product designer who ships their own work. My practice sits deliberately between two crafts: designing interfaces people find clear, and writing the front-end code that makes them real.
That overlap isn't a compromise — it's the point. When the person drawing the interface also feels the constraints of the medium, the design gets more honest and the build gets more considered. Nothing is thrown over a wall.
Most of my work is with small teams and organizations that need one person who can carry a project from "rough idea" to "live at the edge" — products, marketing sites, replatforms, and the design systems that keep them coherent afterward.

Principles
Design in the medium
Static mockups lie. The real design decisions happen in the browser — with real text, real data, and real constraints.
Fewer, better
Every element earns its place. If a section, feature, or word isn't pulling weight, it goes.
Fast is a feature
Performance and accessibility aren't polish at the end — they're constraints from the start, and they make the work better.

- The web, generallyBuilding sites since tables were a layout tool. Some habits — caring how the markup reads — never left.
